Concurrent with the rise of the Chief Digital Officer has been the title of Chief Data Officer, a role that makes “specific use of data to give the right information to the right person at the right time,” said CDO Club David Mathison while introducing the “Insights to Engagement” panel, held at the 2014 CDO Summit at the Time Warner Center in New York City on April 23, 2014.
Panelists included digital executives from General Electric, IBM, Nielsen, and Dr. Carl D. Marci from Innerscope Research.
The first Chief Data Officer was hired in 2003, around the same time as the first Chief Digital Officer.
Today, data and analytics leaders are being hired across all sectors, as organizations realize that data – and the deeper customer engagement it offers – is the lifeblood of business.
Viewers of this video will learn more about:
- why we project that within 3-5 years there will be more Chief Data Officers than Chief Digital Officers;
- how to define ‘engagement’ – its simpler than you think;
- how to use neural science data to understand human emotion – WITHOUT ASKING A SINGLE QUESTION;
- how to use data to optimize marketing strategies and ad campaigns in real time;
- why you should not fear people using DVRs to skip your ads, by following this simple advice;
- how GE is using data from connected devices to optimize performance and create better products;
- how IBM uses social media internally as a way of engaging their teams; and externally to track PR;
- who is hiring these data leaders – AND WHY: the Guardian, News Corp., NY Times, the NIH, FCC, DOT, Federal Reserve, US Army, GE, the cities of Philadelphia, LA, NY, Chicago, the country of France; and the University of Wisconsin, among many others.
The best place to learn more is at the fast-approaching 3rd CDO Summit (and the first in the UK), presented by Accenture Digital and hosted by BBC Worldwide in London on 29 October.
