“We exist to create services so good that people prefer to use them. Unlike previous government regimes, we’ve concentrated zealously, almost evangelically, on users,” said Mike Bracken, the first U.K. CDO of the Year, at the inaugural U.K. CDO Summit at the BBC in London, England, on 29 October 2014.
Formerly the Executive Director of Government Digital Service (GDS), Bracken made headlines at the Summit when he announced he was adopting the title of Chief Digital Officer, during his keynote presentation, “Digital by Default: Two Years On.”
“Mike is an inspiration to all leaders tasked with digital transformation, regardless of sector,” said David Mathison, founder of the CDO Club, after presenting Bracken with the first U.K. Chief Digital Officer of the Year Award, in what diginomica called a “thoroughly well-deserved recognition.”
