We are excited to confirm the speakers and agenda for our upcoming DC CDO Summit on Wednesday July 26 at the W Hotel, in an intimate environment designed for networking and knowledge-sharing with your peers.

As a result of advances in digital technologies, our world is changing exponentially with impacts on how we work, play, and live. There are no “just IT” projects anymore – only mission or business projects with “IT baked-in.”

This represents a crucial shift in mindset. In addition, whereas the motto in Silicon Valley might be “fail fast and fail often,” such a model is not going to work for public service or large established organizations.

The only way such existing organizations can gain the expertise needed to respond to and take advantage of the digital disruptions occurring globally will be to do “dangerous experiments” as positive change agents, akin to what entrepreneurs also do.

At the DC CDO Summit, you’ll hear from Dr. David A. Bray, the current Chief Information Officer at the Federal Communications Commission, and soon-to-be Chief Ventures Officer at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

David will keynote on “Leadership and Positive #ChangeAgents in Exponential Times.“

His keynote will share insights on how positive change agents — leaders who “illuminate the way” and manage the friction of stepping outside the status quo — can be cultivated and championed across organizations to make the necessary digital transformations to thrive in our exponential times.

As CIO for the Federal Communications Commission and through the efforts of a team of positive “change agents,” he led the transformation of the FCC’s legacy IT to award-winning tech in less than two years. This included rolling-out new cloud-based IT that achieved results in 1/2 the time at 1/6 the cost.

Dr. Bray holds a PhD from Emory University’s business school and two post-docs from MIT and Harvard focused on collective intelligence and improving organizational resilience in turbulent environments. He has received both the Arthur S. Flemming Award and Roger W. Jones Award for Executive Leadership in addition to the National Intelligence Exceptional Achievement Medal

Also in the afternoon, Rich Dill will discuss how SnapLogic has put Machine Learning to work for it’s customers with his keynote on “Iris – Can you build an integration pipeline for me?“

Iris is a strategic technology platform that starts with an Integration Assistant in use today and in the future will offer self building integrations. Rich will discuss how integrations could be like self driving cars in the future.
